Social Worker

Duties of this position are, but not limited to:
Responsible and accountable for broad-range planning, developing, organizing, and day-to-day operations of specialty clinical programs to include Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program (HUD-VASH), Grant Per Diem Program(GPD), Veteran Justice Outreach Program (VJO) Health Care for Re-entry Veterans, Health Care for Homeless Veterans Contract Residential Housing (HVHC-CR), Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program (HCHV), and Homeless Veteran Program Services; Addiction Treatment Program (ATP)- to include outpatient (American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) level I) and intensive outpatient (ASAM level II) treatment, as well as hospital consultation to psychiatric, medical, and surgical inpatients; Compensated Work Therapy (CWT)- Transitional Work Experience (TWE) and Supported Employment (SE); Peer Support; Local Recovery Coordinator and SMI program. Oversees direct administrative, operational, quality/safety and personnel activities for the programs. Responsible for implementing and/or developing policies and procedures and establishing appropriate methods for reviewing all program activities. Prepares reports outlining program, facility, VISN, and national data for dissemination. Responsible for the program budgets and various control points assigned to the programs within the assigned areas. Manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation. Ensures the employees they supervise are aware of and adhere to all directives, initiatives, mandates and requirements of local and national Veterans Heath Administration and any regulatory standards of internal / external governing bodies. Conducts ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure program objectives are accomplished, maintaining adherence to standards set by governing bodies, and is expected to independently make use of guidelines in an ethical and flexible manner. Maintains oversight and supervise employees assigned to the programs. Administers and provides clinical supervision to an multidisciplinary staff of professionals including Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Vocational Readjustment Counselors, Nurses, Peer Support Specialists, and Mental Health Professions Trainees and Interns. The basic requirements for employment as a VHA social worker are prescribed by statute in 38 U.S.C. 7402(b)(9), as amended by section 205 of Public Law 106-419, enacted November 1, 2000. To qualify for appointment as a social worker in VHA, all applicants must meet the following:
Citizenship. Be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g this part). Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http:
//www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Grade Determinations:
GS-13 Experience/Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidates may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Specialized experience at the GS-12 level consists of:
Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Applicants must meet the requirements for providing supervision in the state where they are licensed at the advanced practice level and should list these qualifications within the assessment narrative and their resume. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs. Document with written demonstration of KSAs must be included with application, see required documents section Skill in coordinating and implementing one or more specialty program(s), across the facility. Skill in local policy and practice development, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program as prescribed by the program handbook or national directive. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to further program goals and enhance patient centered care. Ability to provide the full range of supervisory duties including assignment of work to be performed; performance evaluations; and selection of staff, training, and recommendation of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary action. Ability to oversee the fiscal matters of the functions supervised (including fund controls, contracts, and equipment expenditures), forecast resource and equipment needs, and administer the allocated budget. Daily intermittent walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and carrying of lightweight items required. Rigid deadlines and need for high degree of accuracy periodically becomes stressful.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
