The MH SL Site Director provides administrative leadership to the Service. Directs the development and maintenance of innovative cost-effective programs, which meets JCAHO, Network 23, VHA Headquarters, CARP and medical center standards. Develops and maintains continuing programs in the areas of professional peer review, organizational improvement, continuing education, scope of practice, clinical privileging and other quality improvement activities. The incumbent serves as first line supervisor and has full administrative and supervisory authority over the six programs; Addiction Treatment Program (ATP), Inpatient Services, Outpatient Services, Consultation and Liaison Services, Homeless Program, and Compensation Work Therapy. Responsible for the accountability and expenditure of funds. Responsible for establishing staffing levels, hiring, training, assuring competency and nurturing an appropriate mix of staff necessary to provide the range of product line services. Examine, diagnose, and treat Veterans and their families, and maintain medical records. Provide clinical leadership and problem solving for clinical programs of which Mental Health Service Line has direct responsibility. Directs work performed by the distinct disciplines involved in mental health care in order to provide a comprehensive continuum of care. The incumbent is responsible for the quality and integrity of all research conducted by members of the MHS. Directs the assessment, program development and presentations necessary to meet the educational needs of the product line staff, and provides for the training necessary to develop and maintain skills. Applicants must meet the English Language Proficiency requirement for positions in this occupation. Education Requirement:
Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Note:
Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure Requirement:
This is a supervisory position; individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Grade Determinations:
Grade 14 Social Worker (Service Chief):
One year of experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. Social Worker must evidence possession of supervisory and management skills. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in administration, demonstrating progressively more professional competency skills and judgment. Individual may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
(a) Skill in providing the full range of supervisory duties across multiple service divisions/sections, which would include responsibility for assignment of work to be performed, performance evaluation, selection of staff, and recommendations of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary actions. (b) Skill in applying legal, ethical, and professional standards to social work practice. (c) Skill in developing, maintaining, and managing social work services in multiple divisions/sections. (d) Ability to ensure compliance with social work practice, policy, and accreditation standards across the continuum of health care. (e) Skill in providing consultation to facility leadership, managers, and other staff on social work qualification standards, practice, competency, productivity, and continuing education requirements (f) Skill in administrative oversight to ensure compliance with social work licensure requirements. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Experience:
Minimum of 3 years experience in a mental health setting plus 5 years of previous leadership experience. References:

The work of the Social Worker is largely office based and in a sedentary setting. Light lifting and carrying under 15 pounds may be required. Some walking, standing, and reaching above the shoulder may be needed. Emotional and mental stability required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
