Major duties and responsibilities of the position include but may not be limited to:
Assist in administration and coordination of Engineering Service. Receives, schedules, refers, and contacts members of the staff, agency, and persons in/outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public. Provides general clerical public contact support services such as answering the telephone, referring visitors, or providing information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures. Screens calls and personally answers calls when the requested information concerns routine and procedural requirements. Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Provides general clerical mail and correspondence services such as preparing a variety of recurring reports, reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper attachments, or consolidating/coordinating submittals of information. Types various correspondence, employee evaluations, requests for promotions, requests to fill vacancies and recommendations for performance awards. Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences. Obtains and monitors the use of services, supplies, or equipment for the office. Manages and dispatches numerous motor pool vehicles to requesting services. Responsible for ADPAC duties, maintaining HR folder TMS training records, serves as PIV Sponsor/JIT, and serves as IPPS certifying clerk. Maintains all records for and prepares certain statistical reports for service and assists boiler plant, all shops, and safety personnel in reports by providing supporting data. Edits requests for supplies and materials through Independent Suppliers Group; types requests in proper format for materials or contracts. Primary timekeeper for the Engineering Service and subgroups which includes shift workers, GS, WG and maintains accurate annual leave and sick leave balances of employees. Assists in operating the Engineering Office by training/coordinating the work of the Program Support Clerk, volunteers, or compensated work therapy employees by explaining procedures, policy, or advising of actions to be taken. Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05.The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. GS-5 Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 or in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
maintains suspense systems to ensure items assigned for action are completed and submitted on time; serves as liaison between offices and/or sections; prepare correspondence and documents for executive signature to ensure compliance with regulations, rules of grammar, format guidelines, and special policies of the facility; answer phones. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school. OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school. GS 6 Specialized
Experience:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like papers or books. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
