Job Description
This position is for a member of the Information Technology team that builds, distributes, and maintains reports that come from the Epic electronic health system. The team member should have a clinical background, familiarity with reporting and database analysis as well as other strong computer skills. Training and experience in Crystal or other report writing software is preferred.
Under general supervision, but according to specific instructions and established procedures, performs routine healthcare application support. Gains extensive knowledge in a Sanford Health Epic healthcare application and a basic working knowledge of other Epic and Sanford Health healthcare applications. Uses analytic skills and experiences to investigate/resolve and/or escalate support issues. Incorporates appropriate presentation techniques to assist and/or lead training sessions. Must have ability to train and provide documentation on healthcare applications to users with varying education and learning abilities. Researches, analyzes and makes recommendations for application work flow improvements. Assists in the creation and maintenance of training documentation. Activities and services include the installation/conversion of healthcare information systems. Utilizes project management principles to assist in achieving stated outcomes. Creates and analyzes reports created using multiple reporting mechanisms. Uses the Epic system functions as needed. Keeps Clinical Informatics Analysts or Project Managers advised of outstanding issues and support needs. Performs with a high level of customer service skills on all support and training requirements. Promotes and participates in the team approach to support and project management within the Clinical Informatics Team.
Skillful at managing change. Good problem solving skills. Time management and prioritization skills are needed on a daily basis. Epic operations, MS Office software, multiple reporting mechanisms and critical thinking skills needed. Additional skills needed in training presentation techniques and proficient verbal and written communication. Possesses a working knowledge of the current healthcare information systems. A positive attitude and support skills are expected.
When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
Required Experience
Minimum of Associates degree in a clinical related profession or computer related field and/or past clinical experience commensurate with area of responsibility. Bachelor's degree preferred. Previous experience in information technology and/or automated patient care systems is preferred.
